What is Arduino?
Arduino is an open-source electronics platform for electronics, and it’s easy-to-use hardware and software. You can do a whole lot of stuff with it, like reading an input, processing it and then controlling output devices like LEDs, motors, etc. Basically anything that a microcontroller is supposed to do can be done by Arduino. It’s a shield for a microcontroller anyway, that means it’s like an additional layer for the microcontroller which makes it easier to code. Over the years Arduino has played an important role in tens of thousands of jobs, from everyday objects to complex scientific tools. An international community of makers – professors, artists, developers, and professionals – has used this open -source platform, and their contribution has resulted to an amazing amount of available knowledge which can be of terrific support to beginners and experts alike.
Arduino was intended as a simple tool for rapid prototyping, aimed at students with no background in programming and electronics. Once it reached a broader community, the Arduino board started changing to accommodate new needs and challenges, differentiating its offer from simple 8-bit boards to products for IoT applications, wearable, 3D printing, and embedded environments.
